چکیده

This paper reviews a number of different moment-based methods for estimating the parameters of the K distribution. The K distribution is a model for the statistics of synthetic aperture radar (SAR) imagery that is formed from the product of two independent distributions, one representing the radar cross-section, and the other representing speckle that is a characteristic of coherent imaging. A method for synthesizing correlated K-distributed random fields is reviewed. Moments of intensity, log intensity and amplitude statistics are used to compute measures which are inverted to give estimates of the mean and order parameters of the K distribution. A method based on the normalized logarithm of intensity is shown to give the best performance, confirming the results of Oliver (1993) and Blackneil (1994). The effect of correlation upon order parameter estimation and its role in the K distribution's underlying component pertaining to the radar cross-section is briefly considered. This work will be used to development target detection algorithms to find targets of interest in SAR imagery. Evaluation of estimation methods for parameters of the probability functions in tree diameter distribution modeling

One of the most commonly used statistical models for characterizing the variations of tree diameter at breast height is Weibull distribution. The usual approach for estimating parameters of a statistical model is the maximum likelihood estimation (likelihood method). Usually, this works based on iterative algorithms such as Newton-Raphson. However, the efficiency of the likelihood method is not...

Estimating the Parameters for Linking Unstandardized References with the Matrix Comparator

This paper discusses recent research on methods for estimating configuration parameters for the Matrix Comparator used for linking unstandardized or heterogeneously standardized references. The matrix comparator computes the aggregate similarity between the tokens (words) in a pair of references. The two most critical parameters for the matrix comparator for obtaining the best linking results a...

An EM Algorithm for Estimating the Parameters of the Generalized Exponential Distribution under Unified Hybrid Censored Data

The unified hybrid censoring is a mixture of generalized Type-I and Type-II hybrid censoring schemes. This article presents the statistical inferences on Generalized Exponential Distribution parameters when the data are obtained from the unified hybrid censoring scheme. It is observed that the maximum likelihood estimators can not be derived in closed form. The EM algorithm for computing the ma...
